Bill Joseph
2015
Bill Joseph grew up in a large family in Benton Harbor, MI, 1 of 12 children. He and his wife, Donna, moved to Kentwood in 1976. They have 3 children, all whom graduated from EKHS. His daughter, Sheree, has returned to teach in our district.
Bill's passion is to help better the relationships of our students, their parents, and our staff while continually holding Kentwood students to high behavioral and academic standards. He has given countless hours of his time talking with parents and students about the importance of education, and accountability in the classroom. Bill served on the Board of Education for 4 terms, 16 years, spending 3 of them as president. He was instrumental in starting the middle school mentorship program for at risk male students. In honor of his commitment to students, minorities and learning, the High School has begun a "Bill Joseph Diversity Award" which is presently in its third year. Bill continues to serve our students, at Crossroads, twice a week, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, where he is currently working with/helping 5 students. It is of no surprise that Bill has received the City of Kentwood "Do the Right Thing Award," and is now the first recipient of the Kentwood Public Schools Education Foundation's " Distinguished Service Award". |
