Joe Beel, a 1972 graduate of East Kentwood and currently the princi- pal of the high school has been named High School Principal of the Year by the Michigan Association of Secondary Principals for the year 2003-2004.
Dr. Mary Leiker, Superintendent, said, Joe exemplifies the high cali- ber of personnel that we have in the district. Our veteran administrators may not get paid as much when you look at other districts, but when you look at performance, they re second to none. Joe s honor is a credit to the entire Kentwood community. Joe said that the award represents the work of all the districts employ- ees, not just the achievements of himself. According to Joe, We re all in this for the right reasons. After graduating in 1972, Joe attended the University of Michigan where he earned a bachelors degree. Then it was on the Grand Valley State University for a masters degree. He taught for nine years and became Assistant Principal and then Principal at Hudsonville High School. Then there was a tour as Principal at Northview before he returned to East Kentwood. Joe says, "I love being a part of this organization." |
