Mirza Harambasic
2010
Mirza Harambasic, a proud member of East Kentwood High School's Class of 2010, has embarked on an inspiring journey that has taken him from the soccer fields of Kentwood to the highest levels of professional coaching.
Born in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Mirza and his family found refuge in Kentwood when he was six years old. He thrived in the Kentwood Public School system, attending Hamilton and Challenger Elementary Schools, Crestwood Middle School, and ultimately graduating from East Kentwood High School. He credits the diverse student body and dedicated educators at KPS for broadening his understanding of the world and preparing him for a career in the global world of professional soccer. After graduating from East Kentwood, Mirza pursued higher education at both Calvin College and Davenport University. He then pursued his passion for soccer, playing professionally in Germany and Bosnia. An unfortunate injury cut his playing career short, but Mirza seamlessly transitioned into coaching. He honed his skills at the University of Hartford in Connecticut before joining Real Salt Lake Academy in Salt Lake City. Through hard work and dedication, he rose through the ranks, coaching the reserve team and the women's professional team before achieving his current position as Head Goalkeeping Coach for the Real Salt Lake professional team. Mirza remains deeply grateful to Kentwood Public Schools for providing a strong foundation. He fondly remembers the friendships and teamwork fostered on the soccer field under Coach John Conlon. Mirza's story exemplifies the power of perseverance and the impact of a supportive community. He and his wife, Ermina, are raising two young daughters, Inayah and Iman. While his professional aspirations remain focused on reaching the pinnacle of coaching excellence, Mirza's greatest goal is to be the best father and husband possible. |
