About the Foundation
It is the Mission of the Foundation to secure resources, raise funds and foster community support for educational enhancements and innovative programs that provide all students within the Kentwood Public Schools the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The foundation was established in 1986 as a means of support for the schools to assist in providing the extras that enhance learning. The foundation is a 501c(3) non-profit organization, licensed by the State of Michigan to solicit tax deductible donations for the benefit our future, the students within the Kentwood Public Schools community.
From its inception through the 2024-25 school year, the Foundation has operated as an entirely volunteer-run charitable foundation working to “Help make educational excellence possible” in the Kentwood Public Schools.
Each year thousands of dollars are given as program grants to promote such programs to benefit Kentwood’s children in the public schools.
The goal of the foundation is to provide grants to support and enhance programs, facilities, and other resources for teachers and staff members, encouraging innovation and/or providing for some of the extras that the school district budget does not provide for. More than 200 employees and/or programs of the district have received grants, amounting to over $400,000. Since 2012, alone, KPSEF has distributed over $260,000 in funds benefitting our students, and providing exceptional and innovative opportunities to enhance their education achievement. The next pages provide a glimpse or snap shop of some of the programs or opportunities that have been sponsored by KPSEF.
In 1992 the foundation began facilitating sponsored individual scholarships to graduating seniors. Through May 2015, the Foundation funded or facilitated scholarships amounting to over $160,000. Today, the Foundation focuses its efforts on current students, but continues to administer several legacy or memorial scholarships to assist in post graduation education and/or training.
